About Tim Price

I am a process engineer interested in solving business sustainability problems where I can leverage my consulting, technical and MBA skills to help organisations meet their objectives. I have ten years of sustainability consulting experience focusing on risk management, resource efficiency, data analysis and process optimisation in the oil and gas, mining and chemical sectors. I am currently an Operational Risk Management Principal at Anglo American focused on risk management and assurance. I was formally a Principle Consultant in ERM Southern Africa’s Operational Performance Team. Prior to joining ERM, I completed a Masters Degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Pretoria in the field of Process Integration and Optimisation. While at ERM I completed a PhD and my thesis focused on the modelling and analysis of steam systems, specifically heat exchanger networks and steam boilers with a focus on boiler efficiency and pressure drop. While at ERM I was predominantly involved with all aspects of Technical Risk Management including quantitative and qualitative risk assessments, HAZOP, HAZID, bow tie assessments, process safety assessments as well as incident investigations. In work not relating to Technical Risk and Process Safety, I have been involved in a series of resource efficiency programs focusing on water and energy resource reduction and optimisation opportunities. This work included a range of chemical cluster sites, commercial real estate as well as projects for the NBI PSEE program, focused predominantly on mining and processing operations. I was also involved in a portfolio wide water strategy program which included detailed site water balances, water reduction targeting and water resilience planning.
