About Tim Roach

From a young age I loved being highly organized. All my belongings were always carefully placed. I knew where everything was, all the time. Over the years this quality evolved into a passion I’ve incorporated into my personal life and career. Embarking into my career as a railway conductor, coordinating a team with a well-planned, predetermined switch list was uplifting for me. Knowing each team member understood their part within the objective, how our day would play out and how we would deal with the unknown. If I had to associate a subsequent emotion to experiencing a plan executed with success it would be - gratifying. Forces in the economy presented opportunities in telecommunications. My passion for organization flourished into project management. Our cross functional teams delivered challenging projects, engineering commercial to carrier grade turnkey solutions for the O&G and mining sectors, mobile communication hubs, in-building distributed antenna systems, small cell coverage, and microwave applications. This is where my interest in technology, engineering and AI surfaced. Reflecting on successes and knowledge I’ve gained from failures at a high-level have pointed me in pursuing a passion within electrical engineering as a technical project manager in the field of bionics with applications to neurology. This field aligns deep within me at a personal level, restoring essential motor skills for individuals experiencing a lack in mobility to lead a life without dependency. Technologies such as this being researched at Johns Hopkins and DARPA have many benefits, bionics when incorporated with neurology I believe (when highly regulated at a global scale) can immensely help the disabled community.
