About Tim Soignet

I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on April 1985 attended boot camp in San Diego, California. I attended Infantry Training School at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and was assigned to the 6th Marine Regiment as an Infantryman. In 1989 I was assigned to 1st Battalion 6th Marines as a Squad Leader to participate in the contingency operations in the Republic of Panama. I was then assigned to 6th Marines Anti-Tank Platoon as a Section Leader. In November 1990 I deployed to South West Asia to participate in Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield. In 1991 thru 1993 I served as a Drill Instructor at Parris Island, South Carolina. In 1993 I served as a Platoon Sergeant with 8th Marine Regiment. In January 1996, I was assigned to Marine Corps Security Forces for joint duty with the U.S. Navy as a training Cadre in Anti-Terrorism Operations, Weapons and Security Planning in South West Asia (SWA), Bahrain. In 1998 I was assigned to Weapons and Field Training Battalion, Parris Island, South Carolina served as a Marksmanship Instructor, Chief Marksmanship Instructor and Company Gunnery Sergeant. In February I was promoted to Warrant Officer attended officer training in Quantico, Virginia then assigned as a Range Officer and Officer-in Charge of Marksmanship Training Unit at Parris Island South Carolina. In August of 2002, as Chief Warrant Officer, I was assigned as Officer-in-Charge of Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island Rifle and Pistol Team. In May 2006, after retiring from the United States Marine Corps. I was hired by Terrebonne Parish Sheriff's Office working as a Patrol Deputy for over two years before being assigned to the Terrebonne Parish Regional Training Academy as an Instructor. In April 2013, I was promoted to Captain and currently serve as Academy/Training Director and SWAT Commander.
