About Tim van Echo

I am proud to have retired after working for the same company for over 38 years. The name of the company when I joined in April 1981 was Benedict, Bowman, Craig and Moos. We had 6 engineers, one geologist and a total staff of 13. In 1988, Dave Bowman gave me the opportunity to buy in as the company was incorporating and became BBC & M Engineering, Inc. We opened offices in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Dayton, and grew from 13 employees to more than 130 over the next 20 years. In 2011, S & ME, Inc. purchased the assets of BBC & M, and I want to thank the leaders of S & ME for treating me so well over the last 8 years of my career. The highlight of my career wase being one of the principal designers of the 9-billion-gallon upground reservoir for the city of Columbus, referred to as the John R. Doutt Upgound Reservoir. I worked on the design and construction management of 11 upground reservoirs in Ohio, including 6 for the Del-Co Water Company, one for Lima, Marysville and Delphos, Ohio. I managed the design of a new 50-mile-long gas pipeline that ran from Monroe County, and through Belmont and Jefferson Counties, Ohio. The design included the designs of one compressor station site, launchers, receivers, valve and over-pressure protection sites. During part of my career, I worked with M/I Homes, Dominion Homes and numerous other residential development companies in investigating potential sites regarding the soils, bedrock, groundwater, jurisdictional wetlands, asbestos containing materials and other potential sources of environmental concerns. On these projects, we were also responsible for testing soil and concrete during construction, and providing foundation inspections. Early in my career, worked for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and several active mining companies in designing mine reclamation activities.
