My name is Tim Weir. WHO I AM: I am an executive-level academic leader with unique qualifications—a doctorate in music and a Master of Business Administration. I have a global outlook, I’m a strategic thinker, and I’m adept at creating opportunities and delivering results. MY BACKGROUND: I have two decades of experience in education and industry. WHAT I DO WELL: I bridge the discrete needs and aims of multiple stakeholders through personal communications. I raise the bar to achieve stronger financial results, create harmonious cultures and deliver the right solutions for the right problem. LEADERSHIP VALUE Uniting People: Established a team from three distinctly different programs to form the School of Creative Arts. United people and drove meaningful, cooperative and enthusiastic change that improved student opportunities and outcomes. Business Insights: As Head of HE at Box Hill, worked with industry influencers to create a partnership with a major recording studio that enriched Box Hill with advanced studio equipment during relocation and refurbishment. Leadership & Lobbying: Lobbied and influenced the Department of Education to reverse the decision on Vet Student Loans for Jewellery programs. I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT people and making things better. I don’t just want to make business better, I want to make the people in the business happier and more productive too. ICEBREAKERS: I’m a professional trumpet player. I’ve performed in 55 countries, at the Kennedy Centre and Sydney Opera House, and I’ve worked cruise ships. I was also a reasonably serious—but not terribly successful—triathlete and rock climber some years back.
