About Tim Wills

I enjoy the international and multicultural side of business which needs effective communication - written, visual, oral and body language. Helping managers in organisations as they change, especially as they improve performance, or expand into new markets involves communication across different cultures, languages and mindsets. In addition to decades of business experience and an MBA from Herriot Watt University, Edinburgh, I speak four languages fluently, with a few phrases in several others. Having lived in multiple countries and travelled extensively I appreciate the importance of integration and understanding. As an editor of publications and research requested by European institutions including the Commission and Parliament I look to significantly reduce the time needed to understand a subject. I write articles on EU support and finance for rural areas for the European Network for Rural Development which supports EU Member State Rural Development Programmes. In recent years my linguistic and training skills have been combined with my financial knowledge in fi-compass, a project of the European Commission and European Investment Bank. This increases the impact of taxpayer money by helping public administration make more efficient use of European funds through financial instruments. In addition to editing publications and drafting press articles this involved being a trainer, moderator and facilitator at 22 events in 20 Member States. In my twenties my clients were central banks all over the world. In my early 30’s I moved to Frankfurt and worked with derivatives at a French bank, establishing the only membership of the stock exchange with no physical presence. At 38 I transferred back to London to simultaneously merge five stockbrokers into a single entity. In my 40’s I moved to Italy with infant triplets and have now added Italian to French, German and high level native English language skills. As a professor at the universities of Urbino and Macerata I engaged classes of up to 120 students in English for Biotechnology, Nutrition, Economics and Cultural Heritage, as well as teaching university staff.
