Background
About Tim Witney
I am Professor of Molecular Imaging at King’s College London, President-Elect of the European Society for Molecular Imaging, and Founding Editor-in-Chief of npj Imaging. I also serve as Chief Scientific Officer of Nuclide Therapeutics, a biotech spin-out from my lab focused on novel theranostic strategies for drug-resistant cancers. My research bridges fundamental discovery and clinical translation. My group develops PET and MR techniques to understand tumour metabolism, map mechanisms of treatment resistance, and accelerate the development of radiotheranostics. We collaborate closely with clinicians, pharma, and industry partners to ensure our discoveries reach patients. Leadership and translation are central to my career: I lead international societies, guide editorial strategy for a Nature Portfolio journal, and have co-founded a biotech advancing towards first-in-human studies. Alongside these roles, I am deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of imaging scientists. Let’s connect if you are interested in collaborations in theranostics, molecular imaging, or radiopharmaceutical development.
