Tampere University students gave me twice the nomination of ‘Assistant of the Year’. I did my doctoral thesis of cell differentiation and steroid receptors. 1991-1993 I focused on synchronization of cell division cycle as a researcher in INSERM in Paris. I specialized in Oncology and Radiotherapy in Helsinki University Central Hospital 1993-1998 participating also to ESTRO Intensive Teaching Course of Radiation Physics for Clinical Radiotherapy and Nordisk Cancer Union’s Communication Training with the purpose of improving the ability of doctors to attend to the psychosocial needs of cancer patients. I collaborated with Finnish Cancer Registry and NCI in USA in projects of secondary cancers among cancer survivors. I worked as Medical Advisor for Oncology Group of Astra Zeneca. With Helsinki Consulting Group and World Bank I worked as an Expert of Clinical Oncology in a project of Restructuring of Cancer Care in Serbia. 2005 I became an Adjunct Professor of Clinical Oncology in Helsinki University. On June 11, 2020, the President of the Republic of Finland, Sauli Niinistö, awarded me the honorary title of professor. 1995 I reviewed radiotherapy of Prostate Cancer in Acta Oncologica. I did the first IMRT plan in Finland. 2006 I founded Docrates Cancer Center with two Physicists who had developed doseplanning software (Cadplan -> Eclipse) of radiotherapy; first in Dosetek Ltd and then in Varian Medical Finland Ltd. 2024 Docrates' entire share capital was sold to Mehiläinen Corporation. At Docrates Cancer Center we started Oncolytical Adenovirus therapies 2007 with Prof. Hemminki and I was the Principal Investigator in phase I study of ONCOS-102. I was Member of the Board at Docrates from very beginning until 2018 and in Finnish Prostate Cancer Patient Organization of PROPO at 2001-2005 and I worked also in the editorial staff of the PROPO journal. I am member of scientific committee of UOMO. Finnish Cancer Organizations awarded me by Medal from the Cancer Work on 2006. Mediuutiset, which was the only Independent Health Care News Media in Finland, elected me as most Influential Person of Health Care in Finland at 2010. In 2025, I will continue at Docrates Cancer Center as a clinical oncologist and chief physician of radiotherapy, with my main clinical expertise in prostate cancer.
