About Timo Ovaska

I’m a pedagogical specialist and project manager working at the intersection of education, technology, and AI. Over more than a decade at Aalto University, I’ve led and co-created initiatives that bring emerging technologies into everyday teaching and learning — from launching advanced technology-based teaching services to coordinating major university-wide digitalisation projects such as the renewal of the course feedback system. In recent years, my focus has shifted to AI in teaching and learning: supporting educators and students in understanding and adopting generative AI safely, effectively, and ethically. I’ve been involved in developing AI-related training for teaching staff, contributing to the Aalto AI Assistant initiative, and participating in our university-wide efforts to shape the role of AI in education. My background in art education gives me a human-centred perspective: I see technology not only as a tool but as a way to enhance collaboration, creativity, and understanding. I enjoy working across disciplines — connecting people, ideas, and systems to make digital transformation meaningful and sustainable.
