About Timo Schmechel

Experienced Software Developer with a focus on building scalable distributed systems and championing observability practices. I started my career in software development as a gameplay programmer. I was drawn to solving the countless complex problems that underlie making fun interactive experiences. I soon discovered my love for building complex game systems and started working with a VR start-up on a massive multiplayer game called "A Township Tale". Building the infrastructure that powers one of the most popular VR games in the world, has equipped me with a wide array of problem solving skills in various backend domains. I am well versed in cloud offerings and scalable architectures to help accommodate for a fluctuating user base and meet demand in effective ways. I have led a team of front and backend developers to create APIs built on serverless technologies. Throughout my role I have focused heavily on internal tools for CI/CD and observability, helping our team move in fast iteration cycles. After working in the games industry I applied my learnings to the green energy sector. At Evergen I am helping drive observability standards and working closely with the developers to maximise the efficiency and happiness of the tech team.
