About Timo Semler

We don´t know how to make it happen, but we make it happen" is a slogan guiding me in personal life and in a business environment for years. Being raised in a R&D environment and supervising several plant commissioning teams around the world on-site this slogan became real due to the challenges and changes we face every day. It is about creating ideas and providing solutions every day to conquer these challenges. LEAN Six Sigma methods and profound knowledge in mechanical/chemical engineering leads the way of finding applicable solutions. knowing that theory and code of practice are not always aligned. The tobacco industry nowadays might be one of the most challenging: processing a natural product respecting varying crops, changing consumer behaviour while implementing modern technologies is a challenge and requires in depth knowledge in this unique field. Learning from/with my mentors tobacco processing is a one of a kind art. Feeling, living with the product and adjusting recipes as well as the equipment is essential with respect to the final product quality (e.g. cigarettes, cigars, Recon, DIET). The every days task is combining experience in other business areas with know-how in leaf processing (GLT), tobacco processing (Primary) and cigarette/cigar manufacturing (Secondary). The methodical approach based on LEAN Six Sigma supported by statistical analysis helps me correlating process parameters to final product quality in order to optimize them. Applying this course of action it is my aim to identify and manage continuous improvement projects with/for clients leading to mutual benefit as partners.
