About Timothy Kane

I am a dedicated public safety professional with over 35 years of experience, beginning my career as a third-generation Police Officer serving in Uniform Patrol, K9, and Special Operations. After a line-of-duty injury led me to the private sector, the events of September 11, 2001, reignited my passion for public service, prompting my transition into emergency telecommunications. In 2006, I joined Calvert County Emergency Communications as a call-taker and dispatcher, ultimately retiring in 2022 as the Agency Training Coordinator and Administrative Communications Supervisor. I hold the NENA ENP (2020) and CMCP (2021) certifications, reflecting my commitment to professional excellence. My contributions extend to incident management and disaster response, having served in key roles such as LOGS/COML-T and OPSC-T on Maryland’s Type-3 All Hazards Incident Management Team. I led operations during FEMA exercises and served as Operations Section Chief for Calvert County’s COVID-19 response. Currently, I serve as Operations Manager for Arlington County, where I lead transformative initiatives in AI-assisted call-taking, remote dispatching, and interagency communications. In 2025, our team earned the AWS Champion Award and two State of Virginia awards for our non-emergency call diversion program.
