About Timothy Kusuma

From a young age, I was always asking why people act in the way they do. Why did the grocery clerk stock my favorite cereal just out of reach? Why were we unable to visit Disney World every day? These questions built a lifelong curiosity about how people make decisions, respond to incentives, and organize themselves to best take advantage of what they have. This work led me to economics—and my current role as an economic policy analyst. In my current role, I bring a combination of data analytics and peer-reviewed journals to my analysis of the economy and the people that make it function. I cover a wide range of topics including AI, trade, migration, innovation, and workforce development—with the hope to find better policy to improve people's lives. Whether coding in R, running regressions in STATA, modeling in MATLAB, reading an economic report, or collaborating with a colleague, I am always trying to answer: how can we improve upon the present with what we have?
