About Timothy Lake
With one foot firmly in audiovisual technology, and the other in the field of archiving, I bring a unique set of skills and perspectives to my work. As a current MLIS student (University of Maryland, 2020) and a Master of Audio Technology (American University, 2018), I'm seeking to preserve the legacy of those treasures most at risk of deterioration and obsolescence. Over the past 15 months, I've served as intern for DC Public Library Special Collections, Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, and Smithsonian Archives of American Art. I've honed a well-rounded command of archival best practices for a variety of collections, including manuscript, photograph, and time-based media, utilizing the most current tools such as ArchivesSpace, MS Access, Python 3, and ffmpeg. I look forward to contributing my talents to those who seek thorough, thoughtful, and efficient work.
