About Timothy Magee

With over 35 years of leadership experience across hospitality and Defence, I bring a unique combination of commercial acumen and program delivery expertise to my current role as Deputy Director – Land Fires & Aviation EO IPT. I oversee Army & Navy Battlefield Aviation and long-range Land Fires projects within the GWEO Land branch (LEOSPO), supporting strategic outcomes aligned with the Defence Strategic Review (DSR). Prior to joining Defence, I held senior executive roles across the hospitality sector, including Director of Finance and Acting GM roles in 5-star Hotels & Resorts, and CEO/GM positions in the Club Gaming industry. In Defence, I’ve led integrated teams of 50+ in the procurement, acquisition, and sustainment of ECM, EOD, and EO capabilities. My work includes authoring and reviewing project documentation (ETPs, ITRs, RFTs, TEPs, WTOs, URs, DIDs), chairing technical and tri-nation explosive ordnance working groups, leading FIC workshops, and managing project schedules. I collaborate with key stakeholders including AHQ, Industry, DSTG, FIS, and the Australian Embassy in Washington (FMS cases). My leadership style is people-focused—built on direction, accountability, coaching, and consistent stakeholder engagement.
