About Timothy Parsons

I am someone with many skills and talents across many areas of expertise. I am foremost an energy efficiency manager with an excellent knowledge of power plants, power generation, and electrical applications. I am currently employed with Texas State Technical College in Abilene, Texas as a Lab Assistant in the Industrial Maintenance Technology program. I maintain and operate the technology lab, as well as assist the instructors and students. I was previously with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, and the Texas Department of Transportation. I am retired from what was formerly known as Texas Utilities Electric Company (now Luminant). I was instrumental in modifying start-up procedures which allowed the company to save over $1MM in start up costs in a year's time. My KSA for power plant boiler-turbine-generator operations and maintenance include machinist, troubleshooter, inspector, fabricator, welder, high voltage electrician, electric motor/pump maintenance, preventive maintenance, non-destructive examinations, root cause failure analysis and lubrications, to name a few of the many. I have also worked as a civilian defense contractor on an Air Force Base as an interior electrician. I carried base security clearance allowing me access to all types of base facilities. I have always looked for ways to make everything more efficient. It's all about the applied science managment and transfer of energy from one state to another, be it electrical, thermal, mechanical, kinetic and potential. I am very creative, a problem-solver, and have a good sense of humor. I am a team player and can work well independently as well.
