About Timothy Sullins
I have a deep desire to change the lives of patients with ocular disease. My great-grandfather, grandfather, father, mother, and uncle are all optometrists, so I’ve had much time to think about the importance of eye care. I’m from rural East Tennessee but currently live in Memphis as a third-year student at Southern College of Optometry (SCO). In addition to eye care, I have been interested in healthcare since I was a kid, teaching first aid lessons in Boy Scouts and working as a lifeguard at a local YMCA. This interest developed into a passion once I recognized the lack of healthcare in my hometown. At Birmingham-Southern, I studied biology to prepare to serve my community. Now, at SCO, I am engaged in learning optometry and providing eye care to patients. In May, I will begin externships in Newport and Knoxville, TN, before completing a final internship at SCO. Upon graduation, I plan to return to East Tennessee with my fiancée, Kate.
