About Toan Hersant

Passionate about sustainable agriculture, I grew up in Madagascar and have dedicated the past five years to designing, implementing, and evaluating development projects that help small-scale farmers diversify their income through more resilient farming practices. With extensive field experience across a variety of organizations—including cooperatives, NGOs, companies, and research institutes—I have held roles such as technical assistant, project manager, study manager, and consultant. My work spans multiple sectors, including coffee farming, beekeeping, aquaculture, agroforestry, and market gardening, and has taken me to diverse countries such as Madagascar, Congo, El Salvador, and Colombia. Currently, I am part of the sustainability team for Coffee & Ingredients at Touton S.A. I lead sustainability programs for coffee and spices across several African countries, serving as a vital link between management— with whom I co-develop the CSR strategy— and the field teams implementing these programs daily. I work to align the tangible needs of producers and cooperatives with the sustainability commitments of our clients, ensuring meaningful and lasting impact.
