About Tobe Levin
Combine academia with activism as President of FORWARD - Germany, an NGO against female genital mutilation. Research, publish, speak and manage projects on this topic. Also founded and serve as Co- Editor-in-Chief of _Feminist Europa. Review of Books_ that appears periodically as a web-zine and reviews books of interest to women's and gender studies published in all European languages other than English. The point was to make available to English-only readers the wealth of relevant and important scholarship otherwise hidden in foreign tongues. Speak English, French and German well enough to make speeches and publish; can get along in Spanish and Italian; and am currently enjoying daily Mandarin. Specialties: Have been an informal advisor to the British, German, and Italian Parliaments on FGM as well as the European Union through my founding membership in the European Network FGM for which association I was the founding secretary.
