While working at the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) I have gained a great deal of knowledge in the setup and running of phase I trials. Mainly, in my position, this has focused on the design and setup of database for the trial, reviewing the data that is being entered into the database, designing change requests to resolve any issues within the database and cleaning the data ready for the creation of trial CSRs.I have also, however, had the opportunity to also experience monitoring of the trials, registering patients on the trials and observing the setup process of the trials.Furthermore, alongside my normal role I have also been the backup Pharmacovigilance officer for our team and have been required to process SAE forms that are submitted on trial. This has included contacting sites to resolve any missing or incorrect information on SAE forms and followup SAE forms, discussing the SAEs with Chief Investigators, submitting the SAE reports to pharmaceutical companies and SUSAR reports to the MHRA and assisting with the creation of annual DSURs.While working at the ICR I have also had the opportunity to attend GCP trainign courses and two yearly refresher GCP courses. Alongside this I have also been able to attend optional training courses to improve my ability to work in this position.While my career has mainly focused on oncology and oncology clinical trials, my education has given me a broad background in human health and disease states.
