About Toby Henning

I’m a senior chemical engineering student at Kansas State University, graduating in May 2025, with strong skills in process optimization, design engineering, and problem-solving. Throughout my academic and professional experiences, I’ve developed a solid foundation in chemical process engineering, project design, and data analysis, utilizing tools like Aspen Plus, MATLAB, VBA, and Python. This past summer, I worked as a Quality Assurance Intern at Goodyear, where I optimized production processes, conducted statistical analyses, and collaborated with engineers to improve efficiency and product quality. My undergraduate research at the University of Kansas focused on hydrogen solubility in nano-scaled porous materials, where I developed a MATLAB-based 3D solubility model to analyze thermodynamic trends. Beyond technical expertise, I take pride in my leadership and communication skills. As President of AIChE and Omega Chi Epsilon, I have led student organizations, coordinated industry seminars, and fostered networking opportunities for fellow engineers. Additionally, serving as a Teaching Assistant for CHE 416, I’ve helped students strengthen their programming and problem-solving skills in Python and VBA for engineering applications. I recently passed the FE Chemical Exam, marking my first step toward earning my Professional Engineer (PE) license. As I approach graduation, I’m seeking process engineering, project engineering, or quality engineering roles where I can apply my skills in process optimization, equipment design, and data-driven decision-making.
