About Toby Parkin

An experienced cultural leader in museums and galleries. Creator of Wonderlab at SMG and Head of Learning at the Science Museum. At Turner Contemporary, my role as Head of Learning and Participation merges a passion for art, creativity and science with working with and supporting marginalised audiences. Over the past 5 years, my focus has been on developing innovative strategies that engage vulnerable audiences and help reduce inequality. My team specialises in working with EY children, schools, care-experienced teenagers and older adults with life-limiting illnesses. We run award winning programmes that help transform lives through art. With a strong background in nonprofit organisations and cultural leadership, the programs I run have built links with the local coastal community and enhance lives and grow a sense of belonging with local people. Our team's efforts have effectively secured support from funders, ensuring the sustainability and growth of Turner Contemporary's learning programmes.
