About Todd Ellis

For more than 20 years, I have been a leader in the renewable fuels and low-carbon energy sector, building and scaling businesses that accelerate the energy transition. I thrive on building businesses that balance commercial success with environmental responsibility, and I am passionate about advancing companies that are reshaping the energy landscape. My career has spanned the entire biofuels value chain—sales and marketing, supply and trading, feedstock procurement, project development, M&A, bio-based diesel market expansion, public policy, strategic business development, regulatory affairs, risk management, operations, and customer engagement.Most recently, I oversaw strategic planning, marketing, and sales management at Chevron Renewable Energy Group (CREG), leading wholesale, downstream, emerging channels, and co-products sales, as well as downstream distribution businesses in California. I am proud to have built and led high-performing teams that delivered growth while supporting customers in achieving their lower-carbon goals.I also bring significant governance and board experience, serving as Vice Chairman of Advanced Biofuels Canada (ABFC) and as Chevron’s Lead Director for CalBio JV. Earlier in my career, I was a founding employee of a start-up biodiesel company that grew to become a market leader before its acquisition by REG. REG was acquired by Chevron June 2022.I hold an Executive MBA from the University of Iowa, an MA from Antioch University, and a BA from Fort Lewis College. Outside of work, I stay grounded through time in the outdoors—mountains, rivers, oceans, and bike trails—with my wife and three daughters.
