About Todd Giszack

I’m a thankful man, enjoying a career that simultaneously allows me to teach, advise, and mentor young people while also growing professionally among scores of hard working, creative, youth-focused friends and co-workers. I’m doubly blessed to have been offered the chance to help lead several educational institutions, typically by offering thoughtful, daily, run-of-the-mill administrative oversight combined in equal measure with creative, data-driven decision making and audacious vision-casting. Currently I’m serving as Head of Upper School at The Carmel School in Ruther Glen, VA, working with an amazing group of professionals and serving a stellar group of young people. Carmel is an exciting place- a pre-K through 12 college prep day school in the heart of a growing and diverse region just north of the state capital and an hour south of DC. Prior to this appointment, I worked at two historic and internationally known boarding schools. Most recently I spent several years as Associate Head of School for Advancement at Oak Hill Academy, successfully learning all aspects of friend-raising and fundraising, and growing in my appreciation for the enduring value of meaningful programming as seen through the eyes of alumni and parents, two oft-neglected constituents. Prior to Oak Hill, I was Vice-President for Academics at Fork Union Military Academy. I’m experienced (after 29 years now) in all aspects of educational institution management. A lover of people. A believer in hard work. And an evangelist for the value of education.
