As a Virtual Design Manager I've been responsible for development and implementation of the Virtual Design & Construction process throughout each phase of project delivery. Being part of preconstruction, I'm held accountable to ensure that a VDC process is being utilized and leveraged in a manner that creates the most collaborative experience possible for our clients. As a result, team communication is streamlined, accurate budget updates are completed more quickly using 3D estimating practices, costly constructability issues are identified and alleviated before becoming bottlenecks in the field and project teams are able to utilize 3D representations of the actual built environment to evaluate the most efficient execution plan and construction schedule. During construction activities my focus is on maintaining a virtual process through 3D execution plans, site logistics animations and construction schedules in order to enable the entire project team to best understand and communicate the expected sequence of field activities. Ultimately, through leveraging the use of various 3D technologies currently available to the construction industry, clients experience streamlined design workflows, enhanced project planning and understanding, efficient project schedules, implementation of field execution plans, accurate project budgets and an overall reduction in the cost of constructing the final built environment.
