About Todd Hunsinger

After 20 years in higher education I embarked on a new career in Code Enforcement in August 2020. Initially I was employed by the City of Rensselaer, NY. Duties were mainly focused on CO inspections and code compliance. Seeking more exposure to larger construction projects I gained employment with Albany County in September 2022. In this capacity I have issued building permits and overseen multimillion dollar construction projects, along with performing annual and periodic inspections. Prior to becoming a Code Enforcement Officer I worked in Higher Education teaching courses in the Biological Sciences in the Capital Region and Western Massachusetts. I have excellent written and verbal communication skills. I have published in books and journals, largely on the topics of amphibian and reptile conservation. I was employed as a Research Associate and Adjunct Curator of Herpetology with the New York State Museum. For 10 years I was also employed as an Ecological Specialist with a small engineering company. Skills applied included wetland delineations and habitat and endanger species evaluations and surveys. Additional duties included written reports and interacting with government regulatory officials.
