Background
About Todd Lowery
I believe it is important to draw upon lessons learned and exploit successes gained through experience-based results. A lumberjack will tell you that not cutting his leg off is a good day at work. A surgeon may have similar feelings about ending their day having removed their patient's correct organs. Each of these professionals gained knowledge through their job experience, and this ensures that their main goals are met. That confidence in performance does not happen overnight - it takes hard work, and yes mistakes. To have the good fortune of a diversified work history, everything from the Military Police to senior public administrator duties in state government, grants certain advantages in the workplace others do not possess. This broad-based work history has provided not only experience, but a unique perspective in going about daily tasks, and it does not hurt to have a teaching degree complimenting this experience. Familiarity with federal regulations, state policy, workforce programs and all that is related, allow the delivery and performance to take place at a high level. It also takes communication, cooperation and collaboration to succeed in workforce development and delivery. It takes understanding the impact a new law or policy may have on your current operating processes. It takes the ability to explain, implement and persuade change as required by mandated guidance, both to leadership and subordinates. This goes well beyond mastering the requirements of a direct supervisory position, it is the development of the mad skills it takes to manage staff effectively. A great manager/boss understands people, what motivates them, what their goals are - just simply what makes them happy and productive at work. To some managers this people-puzzle becomes quite difficult to put together, as some pieces are missing or maybe eaten by the dog. In any case it is important to find and connect these pieces to complete the picture. One of the most difficult lessons to master is understanding the presence of limitations and striving to turn, not away from weaknesses, but into them. The measurement of this factor comprises a multitude of small and large indicators, everything from body language to direct conversation. Either way, feedback is key and listening skills vital. OK, I have reached a point where listing my specific skills would be a "less is more" conclusion. Thanks for reading to the end!
