About Todd Mikkelson

After being an on-air radio broadcaster, I began pursuing a career in what I was most passionate about.music. Talents on multiple instruments allowed me to perform in a number of live acts while also pursuing a contract as a songwriter and recording artist. I produced and engineered music for other artists as well as film, television, and commercials. I began doing graphic design for musical acts, then branched out into advertising, branding, and web design. I started a video production company with two colleagues, further expanding my skills. When our largest client, an international window manufacturer, asked us to video a "water spray test"​, I went out to cover this standardized procedure in order for the company to have a record that would protect them during litigation. Since the procedure being performed was primarily done in laboratories, the equipment the test engineers were using was poorly adapted for field use. So my problem-solving mind got to work. I soon developed a water spray rack that is durable, portable, quick and easy to set up. After patenting this invention, I began using my other skills to market it. It is now the standard in the architectural testing industry along with other related products I've developed. We've exported these products to more than thirty countries. I do presentations on the importance of ASTM standardized architectural testing and how to adhere to these standards in the real world. I've also gotten heavily involved in politics, running for the Minnesota State House of Representatives twice and now working to make truly small business owners' voices heard at the Capitol and influencing policies to help and protect small business.(not large corporations.SMALL business!)
