Got a server problem? Is your OS acting up? Problems are escalating and you need to deal with the issues now. You need somebody with the skills and experience and can stay cool under pressure. Who you gonna call? You need a top notch technical go to person, a systems tech with a broad range of hardware, OS and networking skills. Staging machines, fixing machines and general administration of hardware and OS'es is a big part of what I do. I get asked a lot of questions from a lot of different departments about hardware/OS issues and "what if" scenarios. Sales needs help with an RFP, servers need staging and customer’s have ongoing issues. All the while I have to finish the final edits on my presentation. That's a normal day and my job is to answer those questions and resolve those issues. If I don't know it already, I need to learn it fast. I help to train staff on various technical procedures and best practices. My primary focus is Unix (RedHat, Solaris, Aix, HPUX, Suse) but I do quite a bit with Windows too. Continually developing new tools to make life easier. Always creating, challenging and refining best practices, procedures and company standards. Perhaps most importantly, documenting all of it. I'm a big picture guy with an eye for the details. I have a creative and logical approach along with a lot of technical experience. These are the tools of my trade. Specialties: disaster recovery, storage (zfs, svm, lvm, raid.), shell scripting, solaris, linux, aix, hpux, windows general networking skills, dns, sendmail, ssh, vmware, Solaris zones, Aix LPARs, servers, switches, firewalls, pc’s, SAN, NAS etc. An all around hardware nerd, i love gadgets and machines and making them work or work better.
