About Tom Armitage

I have over 15 years of experience in the food industry blending an academic background and a strong focus on driving positive change in the food-based non-profit sector. For a decade now, I have been focused on increasing access to nutritious food among people facing food insecurity. Put simply, food insecurity exists because many people in our communities do not have enough money to buy the food they need. Recognizing that systemic policy-based change that could address the root causes of insecurity takes time, I’ve worked at creating, operationalizing, and enhancing innovative food access programs while at The SEED. I’m a systems-based thinker and building strong, committed, community partnerships are at the heart of this approach. I have cultivated relationships with other non-profits, food suppliers, farmers, and other stakeholders, fostering collaborative efforts to address food insecurity in the community
