I am always looking for new or existing technologies and software that can improve performance, for me and for those that rely on them to get work done. Having a structured and maintained IT department with good communication allows for a fast turnaround on IT requests. Detailed documentation and an up-to-date knowledge base are a technician’s best ally when it comes solving incidents and problems quickly and efficiently. I feel that the main task of an IT professional is to reduce the risk of incidents and problems via good maintenance, security, backup and planning. If all those things are managed well, then support requests can be greatly reduced so the team can focus on continuing to reduce risk, as well as looking for ways to improve the end users experience.
