About Tom Baxter

FAA certified Part 107 pilot with a perfect safety record (no crashes) and 4 years of experience flying sUAS. I was an early pioneer in California's transmission and distribution drone inspection program. When I began working on the project for PG & E in the winter of 2019, those of us involved paved the way for what the program has become today by standardizing a deliverable, and fine tuning the complicated work flow. Along the way, I have learned a great deal about electric power line infrastructure and about using drone cameras to capture specific details that are pertinent to the engineers. I have worked with many different companies and teammates, personally covering several thousand miles of California power lines ranging from the Mexican to the Oregon border and all throughout. On an interesting side note, my previous career and one of my primary passions is wildlife ecology. I used to work for various programs including universities, consulting firms, and state and federal agencies, collecting field data on birds, plants, fish, insects, soil and water parameters across much of the United States. I am well traveled and extremely passionate about studying ecosystems everywhere I go, and do so with most of my free time when it is not part of my job.
