Background

About Tom Bowen

For the past 4 years I have been a sustainability consultant with Sazan Group Inc. in Seattle, helping promote sustainability of the built environment in the Pacific Northwest Region. I specialize in energy analysis, solar PV engineering, and micro grid feasibility studies for municipalities, tribes, and community groups seeking increased energy resilience and independence. I love working through the engineering problem, then helping communities weave the technical parts into their personal stories to make compelling and winning grant applications! Previously I worked for near 20 years for the Department of Navy and Defense building expertise in project management and critical systems operations and maintenance. That included 8 years of quality assurance program administration and two years of contract quality assurance in the Defense Acquisition workforce. Alongside my careers, I got involved in side projects like 9 years programming and building embedded systems in support of innovative projects including one NASA and one DARPA research grant. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University.
