About Tom Fraser

First and foremost, I am a classroom teacher who has a passion for teaching both English language and literature. As a department and team, our first priority is to teach high quality lessons, every lesson. I have been the Assistant Director of English for four and a half years. Working alongside the director, I help run the English department at Malet Lambert. We run QA across the department to ensure the departments high standards are met and maintained, and I have been responsible for ensuring our budget is deployed in the most effective way. Furthermore, we created a diverse and well-sequenced curriculum that offered challenge and encouraging thought provoking discussion about the world we live in. In addition to this, when schools were forced to close due to COVID, we transitioned to online education. As a department, we delivered live lessons on Google Classroom, held team meetings across Microsoft Teams, produced booklets for students to complete as-well as mark the work online. Maintaining effective flexible working and learning opportunities post-covid has been a priority in my role. To further excel my skillset, I successfully passed an NPQ (National Professional Qualification) on Leading Teaching, a Level 2 NASBTT coaching course and consistently engage with professional development opportunities.
