About Tom Harper

Specialist (senior) biochemist in Thermo Fisher Scientific's - Speciality Diagnostics Group, in the Product Development Department. One of the world's largest scientific companies, Thermo Fisher Scientific is a Fortune 500 company (top 100) and world leader in biotechnology. I am responsible for pioneering and bringing to market novel mass spectroscopy based high throughput autonomous diagnostic assays and platforms for Multiple Myeloma, from concept to launch. I have accrued an impressive and highly desirable range of experience and specialisms including but not limited to: assay and applications development, liquid handling robotics, automation, mass spectroscopy, product development, data presentation, statistics & analysis and generating data for patents. This has been accrued in and supplemented by positions in academia, diagnostics and industry in a wide variety of labs including cell culture, genetics, cancer research and COVID-19 testing. I completed my BSc and MSci Biochemistry year at The University of Birmingham achieving a 2:1 specialising in mTOR cell signalling's in cancer with my projects outlined below. Away from work, I have been passionately self studying Japanese from February 2022. Reaching around an N2 level or upper intermediate (JLPT exam to be taken in due course), I have successfully utilised my language skills in multiple professional/business settings.
