About Tom Hemmer

I currently serve as a director and advisor to Sunbelt-Solomon Solutions. The company was formed by the merger, in June of 2019, of Sunbelt Transformer and Solomon Corporation by Trilantic Capital Partners North America. The combined entity addresses a critical segment of the electrical power equipment and services market to commercial, industrial and electric utility customers throughout North America. Previously, I served as President and CEO of Solomon Corporation, following a private equity investment in 2013 by Oaktree Capital Management. Prior to that, I served as Sales Manager and was part of a successful, five-sibling, second generation ownership group that achieved three-fold sales growth and ten-fold EBITDA improvement over 13 years. Founded in 1971 by my father, Gene Hemmer, Solomon specializes in rebuilding, repairing, and the recycling of oil-filled electrical equipment for utility and industrial customers nationwide. Sunbelt was founded in 1981 and provides customers with timely, flexible, and engineered equipment solutions through multiple channels, including re-manufactured, new and rental product offerings. The combined company currently employs approximately 700 people across 10 locations. Prior to my experience at Solomon Corporation, I spent 11 years as a Congressional staffer on Capitol Hill; first on the staff of Congressman Pat Roberts (KS-01), as a legislative assistant handling agricultural issues and as Deputy Press Secretary to the House Agriculture Committee; then as Chief of Staff to Congressman, Jerry Moran (KS-01). Both of my former bosses in the U.S. House of Representatives went on to serve in the United States Senate. I graduated with honors from Kansas State University in 1989 with a degree in Economics. During my freshman year of college, I served as the State FFA President. I am a past member of the Board of Directors for the Salina Chamber of Commerce, the Coronado area council of Boy Scouts, the Executive Committee of the Kansas Republican Party, the Salina Regional Health Foundation, the Kansas FFA Foundation and the Kansas Chamber of Commerce. I live in Salina, Kansas, with my wife, Maggie, and our three teenage sons. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, hiking, cooking, and traveling.
