About Tom Hermans

I have extensive international and professional experience from both the marine industrial environment and the electrical industrial environment. My knowledge in project and program management, project engineering and sales engineering is excellent, and I have a huge passion for leadership. In addition, I’m skilled in LNG storage systems, engines and propulsion systems, and electrification. As a leader, I have a coaching style and an active listener. I am open minded and candid, in an empathic way. I see open communication as important in my leadership and I always want to motivate, support and build trustful relationships. For me it is of huge importance to have a great team spirit, and everyone feel valuable. In my duties I am proactive, organized, goal oriented, result driven, and I find it easy to collaborate with others. I have a strong commitment to my work. As a person, I am analytical, innovative and I have an entrepreneurial spirit. I have constant hunger for more knowledge, and I'm curious about innovative ideas and solutions and I always go all in to my work. I always meet people with respect and trust. In my spare time I am active as a soccer coach, which has contributed to development of my skills to increase the motivation and team spirit of the team members. My international experience, duties and responsibilities combined with my education and personality have given me an ability to communicate with co-workers, customers, sub-suppliers, sub-contractors and partners in an empathetic way, and that have led to both good and trustful co-operations. The tasks have also strengthened my leadership, entrepreneurial drive, communication skills, change management skills, negotiation skills and networking skills. These qualities are contributing reasons that take the projects forward and make all team members and customers feel comfortable working with me. The tasks I have been accountable for in project management and sales have given me a solid foundation for project planning, budgeting, risk management, scheduling, reporting, resource management, management of quality control processes, sales strategies, evaluation of requests and technical solutions and negotiating technical and commercial contents of tenders. Education, Master of Engineering (M.Eng) in Technology Based Leadership from Novia University of Applied Sciences in Vaasa and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Industrial Management from Swedish Polytechnics in Vaasa.
