About Tom Holbeach

I love driving improvement and growth through my twin passions of data and people. Working with data to determine the fact-based approach, and building a culture of improvement with, and growing, great people. I thrive best in a transformational or growth environment, with constant challenges, and putting myself in these environments has helped me continue to build my career. Back in 2018, after a decade or so in management consulting, I felt the time had come to make a change, leave the industry, and enter 'the real world'. So I started my own consulting firm. Not quite the change I had intended, but it was successful and gave me some much needed flexibility during the pandemic. Home-schooling three primary school boys and a toddler with working parents is not something I would recommend! This flexibility also gave me the opportunity to try a number of different roles in different organisations. This included investing in and taking a CCO role in a circular economy spin out, and another leadership role in a rapidly growing company covering 3 teams and 20 people. Here we successfully launched and grew to profitability three new lines of business, winning a few industry awards along the way. Eventually in 2021, I followed up on that initial plan and moved out of the consulting and supply chain industries entirely, and went to put those passions of data and people to work in a strategy and operations leadership role at Mutual Trust. I find leveraging data when building growth or improvement strategies allows us to focus on the highest priority areas, as long as we combine it with input from the team. Then it is about continuing to work with the team to make sure the improvement or growth ambitions are met - and having sufficient insight (data or otherwise) to track whether it's going successfully, and pivoting if necessary.
