About Tom Hunter-Hybert

Growing up surrounded by huge whirring phototypesetting machines, scalpels, airbrushes, cow gum and spray mount it’s a wonder I’m still in one piece. The family business was always fascinating to me. The dark room with funny smelling chemicals and red glow. The huge typesetting machines that spat out sheets of shiny print and cost more than our house. The Letraset pages that could be rubbed to make strange pictures and ransom note letters. And then there were the computers. Oh the computers! As soon as I discovered I could get a Apple Macintosh Iici to read out rude words in a robotic female voice, I was sold. It lit the fire in me to learn, understand and create great design using the years of experience my parents had built up bringing a design and typesetting business to life. After studying media and realising tv production wasn’t for me, I took the plunge and joined the family business. Working closely with the team I quickly got my hands dirty and embraced a natural talent for creative problem solving. Since then we’ve worked on thousands of projects from books and journals, marketing campaigns, packaging, branding and much more. I’m the flag bearer and proud owner of a company with over 40 years experience in design, typography and typesetting. I have a passion for colour, type, shape and form. I love the challenge of every project and I work tirelessly to make sure everything we touch delights. On time, within budget and without fuss.
