About Tom Loughin

I am a professional, accredited Statistician (P.Stat. SSC) with extensive experience in both statistical applications and methodological development. I have worked with researchers in a wide array of disciplines, including agricultural, engineering, medical, education, and other areas. I specialize in communication with subject-matter experts, re-expressing complex statistical concepts into language that is easy to understand. I am also an author. I have co-authored a book, Analysis of Categorical Data Using R, with Chris Bilder, who has been a long-time research collaborator on categorical data analysis methods (available from CRC Press in August 2014). I have also authored or co-authored over 100 papers for refereed journals, and many others that have appeared in other print outlets. I am a researcher, developing new statistical method to address modern challenges and developing improvements to existing methods. My current focus is on tree-based methods in statistical learning.
