About Tom Meadowcroft

Finding new ways to teach Chemical Engineering Practice, particularly Process Control, Safety and Design, at Rowan University in Glassboro NJ. I was a practicing professional for 25 years before switching to teaching full time in 2018.My courses focus on Design, Safety, and Process Control with forays as needed into the rest of the Chemical Engineering curriculum. I have developed a Process Safety course which is now part of the core curriculum, and I am teaching a new elective course “Process Control Design and Practice” for the first time in Spring 2021, which focuses on the design of automated processes rather than analysis of dynamic systems and control theory. I am also working to put more detailed design (P & ID level) into what Chemical Engineering undergraduates experience. In 2021 I hope to start making the material I’ve developed for these efforts available for others to draw from. Feel free to contact me if you share these interests.I am available for consulting opportunities in the Philadelphia/Wilmington/South New Jersey area, particularly during the summer months. My industrial experience is in the areas of Process Engineering, including Process Design, Process Control Design, Scale-up, Optimization and Process Improvement through better use of automation, better data management, and recognition and removal of process bottlenecks.
