About Tom Meuser

While trained as a clinical psychologist, I consider myself as much as an applied gerontologist these days. I am an experienced translational educator, researcher, and program administrator. I am also a licensed psychologist in Maine and provide consultation and neuropsychological evaluation services for older adults and their families. See https://geropsychmaine.com/. Fall, 2018 to present. I serve as the Founding Director the Center for Excellence in Aging & Health at the University of New England in Portland, ME. I am a Professor of Health, Wellness & Occupational Studies in the Westbrook College of Health Professions. See Until July, 2018, I served as Director for the Gerontology Program in the Department of Sociology, Gerontology & Gender (SGG) at the University of Missouri - St. Louis. I am something of an academic "jack of all trades" with expertise in administration, teaching, mentoring, program evaluation, and research. I am also a fairly accomplished videographer, having produced a number of videos for health and social service professionals about Alzheimer's Disease and other issues in aging. I do a lot of public speaking of issues of aging, especially in the areas of life review and older driver safety. My current research focuses on legacy beliefs in advancing age.
