About Tom Oconnell

President and Owner of O'Connell Sports Management, Tom is a graduate of the University of Central Florida with a B.A. in Communications. He was born in New York and played collegiate baseball for both Suffolk County Community College and Florida Southern University. Tom became an agent in 1997 as the VP of Operations for Buoniconti Sports Management Group, He was instrumental in building their baseball division by producing 5 major league players. In he became the East Coast Regional Director for Global Sports Group where he was responsible for scouting, marketing and contract negotiations. Tom founded Legends Management Group in and served as President/CEO for ten years representing over 40 professional baseball players. In 2011, he founded O’Connell Sports Management. Since 1997, Tom has represented over 70 professional baseball players as a Certified Agent with the Major League Baseball Players Association and The State of Florida. Currently, he holds licenses in six states. Tom has negotiated over $105 million in contracts and nearly $10 million in draftee bonuses since the inception of OSM. Tom has earned a tremendous reputation in the baseball community through his unprecedented work ethic and dedication to clients. He currently resides in Tampa, Florida with his wife and two children. COMMITTEES – In 2014 Tom was elected to the MLBPA Agent Advisory Board.
