About Tom Petty

A young, resourceful and ambitious sports manager who over the past five years has successfully built and managed a team from Australian domestic success to international victories on multiple continents with the long term goal to sustain our world leading development program. Having surrounded himself in cycling from an early age, Tom combines extensive bike fitting expertise with formal accreditation from Retül and Cycling Australia. He is a certified fit specialist and an advanced TT/Triathlon fitter, despite this, he feels it is his combination of state-of-the-art technology and a customer centric approach, that achieves the results he is known for. Outside of Pave the Way, Tom operates as the director and owner of Team BridgeLane. As Oceania’s number one cycling team; we see our purpose not only to win bike races and elevate our athletes, but also to extend our platform to create benefit for all of the community. We want to continue to give young Aussie’s the chance to take on the world’s best and support them thoroughly for years to come. As one of the longest running teams we hope we can keep paving the way for Australia’s top athlete’s like Richie Porte, Jack Haig, Chris Hamilton and Robert Stannard. These athlete’s go on to inspire the next generation of young riders and adults alike, united by the effort and drama of sport. Previously, Tom founded and ran,'mobius BridgeLane' and the ‘Sydney Uni Velo Racing Team.’ A team that was created to provide a lasting pathway for SUVelo club riders to develop at a 'grass roots' level. Tom's passion for junior mentoring and creating pathways continues, recently starting a new initiative with Manly Warringah CC to bring juniors together from all the clubs and share knowledge on balancing study and sport, skills and what it takes to get to the next level.
