About Tom Platts

I am a partner at international law firm Stephenson Harwood, and am currently based between Singapore and London. I sit on the firm’s Supervisory Council and I lead the firm’s top-tier cross-border Asia M&A and private equity practice. I specialise in all forms of corporate and commercial law, and have extensive experience of advising on strategic cross-border M&A, foreign direct investment, joint ventures and corporate restructurings. I also advise on high-value private equity, venture capital and capital markets transactions and related structuring. I have particular experience advising international companies on their Asian investments across numerous sectors, including renewables, consumer, FIG, media and telecoms, tech/fin-tech, transport, agri-business, pharmaceutical and healthcare. I am listed as a leading and recommended individual by Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500. I was named among Asia Business Law's Top 100 Lawyers in Singapore, and in the Top Ten Most Influential International M&A Lawyers in Singapore by Business Today. I have been client-nominated as a stand-out talent by Acritas Stars. I was ranked in the Asian Legal Business' annual '40 under 40', and the Singapore Business Review's '40 and under most influential lawyers' lists.
