About Tom Roberts

Tom has significant dispute resolution experience, primarily in international arbitration. He has acted on a wide range of cases relating to energy, construction, commodities and shipping. Tom has assisted clients involved in disputes within various arbitral frameworks, most particularly LCIA, ICC and LMAA, as well as in the English High Court. Tom also represents clients in investor-state arbitrations under the ICSID regime. The matters on which Tom assists his clients are frequently multi-jurisdictional and involve complex issues of international law and enforcement. Tom takes a down-to-earth, commercial approach to understand his clients’ needs and to obtain the best results for them. Tom has worked on disputes across the Middle East, Latin America, Europe and Africa. Tom’s most recent focus has been on large scale disputes relating to the construction of offshore and onshore energy projects. On the regulatory side, he regularly advises clients on health, safety and environmental law, in respect of which Tom assists clients in conducting internal investigations. Tom has been with Clyde & Co since 2007. He speaks French and Italian, and works with a number of clients from these countries. Tom is a Solicitor-Advocate (Higher Courts Civil Proceedings), and has the right to represent clients in civil courts throughout England and Wales, as well as in international arbitration.
