About Tom Schreiber

I work at the intersection of database research, system architecture, and real-world production systems.My background spans software architecture at Siemens, training and consulting roles at MongoDB and Elastic, and academic database research published at VLDB. I’m a co-author of the first ClickHouse research paper and have spent much of my career building and explaining high-performance data systems from the inside out.At ClickHouse, I focus on translating deep technical foundations into things that actually survive contact with reality: benchmarks, architectures, technical training, and clear explainers that help engineers, customers, and decision-makers understand why systems behave the way they do, and why some scale while others don’t.Over the years, my work has included:• Designing and validating database benchmarks using real workloads and real cost models• Training engineers, architects, and field teams on database internals and performance trade-offs• Working directly with customers on architecture, adoption, and performance-critical systems• Publishing and presenting technical work across industry and academic venuesI care deeply about technical honesty.
