Above experience perfect training for applications engineering within the EDA industry, covering all aspects of the design flow, digital, mixed-signal, front and back-end design. Consummate communication and presentation skills, as well as extensive sales and field experience. More recently, closer to R&D in order to provide more widely available technical expertise to Sales and Field organisations as well as customers. Develop training materials for customers, field and customer training. Develop presentations for product marketing, conferences, technical symposiums and for customer visits. Specialty/focus: Power Grid and Electrical Analysis - IRdrop and ElectroMigration Relies on knowledge and involvement with Full-Custom Layout, Physical Verification, Extraction for analysis and Interfacing to Place & Route, Front-end Design Simulation Vectors and Test Moved into CAD management at AMD, program managing CAD development of power grid and associated analyses for internal design customers and providing design consulting expertise in same field for validating tool flow and interpretation of results. Interface with EDA suppliers for features and bug fixes, and evaluate alternative solutions and new capabilities as design requires methodology changes or extensions. Now back in EDA, working in a startup company, Gear Design Systems and now acquired by Ansys, June 2015, on a revolutionary IRdrop and ElectroMigration application atop a highly parallel Big Data system. Consulting, supporting and training customers and field, as well as mentoring colleagues learning the new system. Ongoing involvement as an Edinburgh alumni in their Insights program, mentoring the next generation of undergraduates at a variety of different events, more recently online. As of April, 2021, started semi-retirement. I remain working at Ansys part-time, developing and delivering both product and soft skills training programs as part of developing an Academy within Ansys.
