About Tom Wiggins

Tom Wiggins’ aviation career started in 1989 where he spent seven years working on various military aircraft for the US Air Force. After his departure from the USAF, he continued with his aircraft knowledge at Cam-Tech and Dalfort before landing at Southwest Airlines in 2001. Since joining SWA, Tom has been an active member of AMFA and has held various positions within AMFA as a Shop Representative, Accident Investigation Team member, and Professional Standards Representative. In his most recent position, Tom served the members of Local 11 as the Safety and Standards Chair from 2016 until being appointed as National Safety and Standards Director in September 2023. Tom hopes that he can continue to build the safety culture at AMFA, by serving, educating, and engaging its members about safety and compliance. Tom realizes that a safe working environment is a productive work environment that should not be compromised by the “dirty dozen” or pressures of our surroundings. Tom is honored to have the opportunity to serve all the members of AMFA within the US and Canada. Tom has been married to his beautiful bride since 1993 and has two adult children and one grandson. The duties and responsibilities of the National Safety and Standards Director are outlined in Article VI, Section 9 of the AMFA Constitution.
