About Tom Williamson

Tom is an experienced emergency responder and leader familiar with the complete Emergency Management Continuum. This includes; identifying and implementing Prevention & Mitigation strategies based on comprehensive risk assessments; delivering Preparedness training and exercises to both emergency responders & communities; participating in active Response to live events where immediate decisions are required to save lives and protect property; and Recovery operations where both responders and communities rebuild. Some highlights of Tom's experiences include; dealing with natural disasters from severe weather, tornados, overland wildfires, and multiple flood events; and planning for and responding to the wide-ranging impacts of human caused emergencies including residential & industrial fires, vehicular and structural incidents, hazardous materials and medical emergencies. Tom is formally educated with an applied Business Degree in Emergency Services (graduate with honours) and Emergency Management through the Canadian Emergency Management College. Tom is informally educated with over twenty years of hands on practical experience gained through various roles in the Canadian Military, the Fire Service, and the public and private sectors. Leadership experience – Provides leadership while giving guidance and support; a mentor and positive role model who has the ability to communicate potential opportunities while empowering and incorporating the views of others. A proven ability of positively engaging people while solving problems. Management experience – Friendly and approachable, believes in involving people to establish priorities and shows sensitivity when dealing with conflicting views.
